Are Monkeys Capable of Living in a House?

Many websites and people call themselves “experts” that claim that monkeys can’t be taught to use the restroom properly. This could be the case with some categories of animals. Because I’ve only ever dealt with capuchin and spider monkeys, I can’t tell for certain whether or not the method I use to train a monkey to live in a home would work for other kinds of monkeys.

• If you do not let your monkey descend to the ground and search for a spot to defecate, you will never be able to successfully house-train it. Because diapers are harmful to most species of animals and it is inhumane to confine the monkey in a cage, you should consider adopting a different pet.

If a monkey hasn’t been weaned yet, it’s probably advisable to put it in a diaper appropriate for its size.

How to Tame a Young Monkey

It is difficult to potty train in the early stages of a monkey’s life.
